Kolam is an art of Indian where they use rice powder, rice, chalk powder, or natural synthetic color powder to draw the kolam. In every state of India, they use this art to represent the Hindu religion. I Malaysia Indian people still have this traditional art. They draw kolam on Tamil festival to make it a generous festival of the year. 

Kolam also drew by rice to feed ants, birds, and some small creatures. According to Hindu mythology, when insects eat the kolam rice we will get blessings from the Lord and our life will be peaceful and lucky. They are many types of kolam. Indians draw kolam for, Ponggal, Deepavali, Navratri and so many more. 

Indians drew 10 types of kolam on Navratri festival which is prayed 10 days for Lord Durga the warrior and protector of women. Rangoli kolam is the most significant kolam of India.

Kolam is also symbolized to prevent any dark spirit to welcome in our house. Hindu mythology state that drawing Kolam every day can prevent us from bad luck and also Lord Lakshmi who is the goddess of money will visit your house.
